Traits of the "Modern Munuteman"

Image
The best way to contact me “currahee(at)live.com" This article and the accompanying video were spurred by a similar video from Risky Chrisky on Rumble . It's a really good channel for this type of stuff and you should check it out. I've wanted to cover “skill areas” for the prepared. I think far to many folks probably collect gear and think that's good. But, its skills, experience and mindset that will keep you alive. I used Chrisky's term “modern minuteman” because it seemed appropriate. The Minutemen were the best equipped, trained and generally experience of the militia at the opening of the American Revolution. These are the things that will set you apart from everyone else. I'm mostly sticking with Chrisky's list but will offer my own take and suggestions on how to achieve them. I also think of them as “traits” rather than skills. Skills suggest something that can be objectively measured and is more specific, skills would be within these t...

CQB and Home Defense for Civilians

The best way to contact me “currahee(at)live.com"  I'd like to recommend a couple of videos that cover “CQB” and home security for the civilian. It's always good to think about tactics. It takes a lot for me to recommend a YouTube video (these guys should be on Rumble) but last night I watched a couple of vids with Drew Estell of Baer Solutions . The first vid is “ 3 Ways To Secure Your Home ." And visa versa. If you keep your porch light on anyone that comes to that part of your house will be illuminated and if you turn the lights off inside your house they will not be able to see in, for several reasons. Obviously if yo...

Basic Tactical Principles

Image
I can think of no word more overused in the past decades than “tactical.” I just got done reading a bit on the internet with a person asking advice on which “tactical pants” to get. Most of the time this is used the word “fighting” should replace tactical. My fighting gear etc. Because gear, or other items are not “tactical.” People and groups are tactical. Don't worry about having tactical stuff, worry about having smart tactics. How do we become "tactical?" There are several time tested principles of tactics that are so universal they apply to all fighting situations. Whether defending yourself from a home invasion at 3AM or ambushing an enemy column in Red Dawn (classic.) I am going to follow this article up with a series of articles and videos on tactics, but before you begin reading about the nuts and bolts of tactics you need to learn and live this mantra. Surprise: It does not matter how awesome you are at doing something- if the bad-guys know you are going ...
